In 2004, Urban Upbound, originally East River Development Alliance (ERDA), was co-founded by Debra-Ellen Glickstein and Bishop Mitchell Taylor with a vision for economic inclusion. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach, serving thousands of youth and adults in public housing and low- to moderate-income neighborhoods annually.

Urban Upbound takes a unique approach, employing intensive case management and fully integrated services to engage clients for extended periods. At the heart of this model is the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union (UUFCU), a vital pillar and community anchor. UUFCU connects Queens residents with financial products designed to foster long-term asset building and economic mobility, filling gaps not addressed by mainstream banks.
