PHCU Origins: Our roots trace back to the formation of SC Baptist Hospital Employees' Credit Union in 1963 and Richland Memorial Employees' Federal Credit Union in 1972. In 1999, PHCU was established through the merger of these two hospital-based credit unions, serving the employees of Palmetto Health Hospital (later known as Prisma Health), the SC Baptist Convention, and their families.

PHCU Today: While remaining closely affiliated with Prisma Health and the SC Baptist Convention, PHCU now serves individuals in Richland County and their relatives, along with medical-based businesses affiliated with Prisma Health and groups associated with the SC Baptist Convention. With approximately 11,200 members, $94 million in assets, and $40 million in loans, PHCU continues to provide a range of standard products and services, including consumer loans, savings options, online banking, and mobile banking.
