The Better Living Empowerment Program (BLEP) addresses pressing challenges in Lucky Summer, Nairobi City County, and its neighboring settlements, including limited access to education, high unemployment rates, and poor living conditions.
Problem or Need
Residents face urgent needs for personal and community development due to limited education access, high unemployment, and poor living conditions. These challenges hinder personal growth, perpetuate poverty, and impact overall community well-being.
BLEP proposes a comprehensive solution integrating sports and work education programs. Initiatives include poultry and rabbit keeping, waste management, financial literacy, table banking, outdoor and kitchen gardening, and meaningful engagement activities. These programs address multifaceted challenges and empower the community.
BLEP’s solution holds significant value by addressing community needs. The sports component promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline, enhancing personal growth and employability. Work education programs, including financial literacy, waste management, micro farming, and meaningful engagement, empower individuals, promote economic independence, contribute to environmental sustainability, and address food security challenges.
BLEP is making significant strides in empowering Lucky Summer and neighboring communities through a holistic approach. The integration of sports and work education provides essential skills, knowledge, and experiences, fostering long-term sustainable development and social change. BLEP’s initiatives go beyond immediate benefits, aiming to create a better future for all in Lucky Summer and beyond, contributing to sustainable development goals and Vision 2030.
