Funding the Movement for DCTs: Building a Philanthropic Collective
November 14 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pmFree – USD300
🌟 Unlocking the Potential of Youth! 💰 When we talk about empowering our young people, it’s about giving them the tools they need to succeed. This means focusing on equity, care, and autonomy, ensuring they have the resources and support they deserve.
Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs) are at the forefront of this mission, offering an efficient way to meet the needs of our youth. How does it work? It’s simple: Cash is distributed to young people remotely or in person at a frequency that suits them best – whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. The best part? It’s all about their choice and autonomy.
DCT programs have just three essential components:
- Cash: The literal money going directly to our youth.
- Plus: Supportive programming offered to them on an optional basis.
- Engagement: Communication and outreach to ensure they are aware of supportive programming and can easily communicate their needs.
There are various DCT models, but our “Cash Plus” DCT model is unique. It provides long-term, flexible, accessible transfers designed to support young adults experiencing housing instability. No expectations, no requirements, no punishments – just the freedom to use the money as they see fit. And if they choose, they can access supportive programming at any time during their journey.
