The Student Organization for Black Unity (SOBU), founded in 1969 and later renamed the Youth Organization for Black Unity (YOBU), was a Pan-Africanist youth and student organization. It organized Black students across campuses, published the newspaper “The African World,” and connected campus activism to the broader Pan-African and Black liberation movements of the era.
