The Junta of Militant Organizations (JOMO) was a Black nationalist organization founded in the late 1960s in Tampa, Florida, by Joseph Waller (later Omali Yeshitela). Organizing around Black self-determination, community defense, and resistance to police violence and poverty, JOMO became a foundation for what would grow into the African People’s Socialist Party.
