Description

The Congress of African People (CAP) was a Pan-Africanist and Black nationalist organization founded in 1970, growing out of a national convention led by poet-activist Amiri Baraka. Uniting nationalists, activists, and artists, CAP promoted Black self-determination, Kawaida philosophy, and independent Black political power before evolving toward Marxism in the mid-1970s.
