The American Committee on Africa (ACOA), active from 1953 to 2001, was a leading U.S. organization supporting African liberation and independence movements. It played a central role in the American anti-apartheid movement, backing majority rule in southern Africa and building solidarity between Americans and African freedom struggles before merging into Africa Action.
